Here is the list of essay titles I spoke about today, taken from previous SQA exams. You can use this to practice writing intorductions, conclusions and the outline of what could make up the main section.

Good morning. As I mentioned last Wednesday, there was a threat of further snow closures so most of you (but not all for some reason) have your material home with you. You can work through Section D. But another task which I think might be a bit more interesting working at home, is to research a famous Scot abroad and write a short biography of that person. Here is an IT task I made a while back to get you going: Download Scot-obituary

Well I don't know what the weather has been like for you over the last couple of days, but I am at home with 3 feet of snow and drifts up to 4 feet. In between power cuts and keeping access to my house and car clear I have been trying to put together some podcasts but with little success so far. I will try again today.
Best advice for S4-S6 classes is to get on with course work, Extended Essays/Dissertations and past papers. Please e-mail me first drafts if you have them. S4 pupils must get Free at Last completed very soon so do your best.
I'm off to clear the snow off my roof!

S4- Pupils in mr Parker’s class should look at the web links provided by mr Davidson. Primarily, Intermediate 2 pupils should be researching and preparing an answer to their chosen extended response question. ALL Int 2 pupils should have an idea of which title they would like to use by their return. Int 1 pupils should check out Free At Last? Web links to gain an insight into what comes next. Good luck!
PS here’s two direct links, that are on the website, if you’re feeling lazy;

Happy New Year S3!
I thought I would give you some suggestions for doing some History so we don’t fall behind during this cold spell.
We are about to start studying the Scottish Wars of Independence. This is the story of how
What you could do at present, when stuck at home, is to get a general overview of the whole story by looking at the following websites:
http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/scotlandshistory/warsofindependence/index.asp
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/history/scotland_united/alexander_iii_dies/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/education/hist/wallaceandbruce/
You could simply Google ‘Scottish Wars of Independence’ and discover more.
The History at Huntly website has information and some examples of work, so have a look at that.
If you want, you could watch ‘Braveheart’, but be warned it has historical errors and we will go through the movie in class later.
See you all soon hopefully,
Mr Davidson

Here is the sheet you will need for Wednesday's IT Famous Scots Abroad research. Once completed, e-mail to me at [email protected]. Remember an obituary is the summing up of key moments and acievements in someone's life.
Enjoy.
