Over the last few months I have had a lot of time to devote to my blog, and I have slowly come to the conclusion that being a blogger is like being an artist.
Why?
Simple, you can write yourself stupid about stuff you THINK others might find interesting and comment on only to discover that even during periods when you write nothing your stats remain resolutely the same (a paltry 13.95 a day on average.) You can write comments on the big boys and girls blogs, do you get a nod of acknowledgment, hardly ever. Just as in art where unless you are Damien Hirst you will struggle to get anywhere.
But maybe the struggle to get your voice out there is the whole point of the exercise. Before starting my meisterwerk a year and a half ago I had never written the slightest thing for public consumption and now I regularly commit my thoughts to (digital) paper. There are times where I think I write well, times where I just write about something that irks/interests me, other times I put quite a bit of time into composing posts.
Having given serious thought to jacking it in for a while, I have decided to continue to plough my lonesome furrow. Ho, hum.

Hi Adam! How are you?
I feel the same about my Flickr account. I put up, what I think are some good shots and get nothing. Yes, I did get a 'one hit wonder' with 1,000's of views and many comments, over the festive period but it made me naively think that, after getting loads more 'contacts'I would be getting loads more views and comments. Alas no. Even this week I gave some thought to giving up Flickr as it is time consumming and can be soul destroying when you see the stuff that gets millions of views. If nothing else, FLickr MAKES me think about what will I put on next.
(My blog didn't last long did it? I see no point in putting a comment up until I have something to say.)
Take care!

Thanks Jo. I think this was one of those posts I kind of regret writing.
