A New Concept In School Leadership

There appears to be a new concept in school management making its appearance.

It's called The Virtual Headteacher.

This concept involves a headteacher being physically present in school less than 5 days a week, by dint of assiduous membership of as many authority-wide committees as possible.

This type of leadership has huge advantages to the incumbent:

1. It allows them the opportunity to remain close by the side of the Director of service
2. It means they don't have to deal with problematic staff on a daily basis
3. They don't have to get to know or deal with the pesky kids that frequent their establishment.

Never having come across this concept before I was wondering how new it is, or have I just had my eyes closed for the last 10 years?
