This powerpoint and handout should help you write Higher level essays. They show you how to link paragraphs, how to bring in new points/arguments, how to contrast views, which phrases and words to avoid and essay writing conventions. (Thanks again go to Donald Morrison)

Some quotes which may improve your Democracy essay. Remember to use quotes wisely. They should emphasise a point, contradict a point or bring into the essay a new argument. Don't leave quotes 'unattached' to the essay - they must be integral to the essay.

S4 Intermediate: You should all have in your possession 3 revision booklets (Immigrants and Exiles, Free at Last and Wallace and Bruce). You should also have a Study Skills Guide. If you cannot find these at home then click on the following to download them.
Remember to actively revise by converting information to diagrams, mind maps, timelines, etc. Also do plenty of past papers.
Stay relaxed, eat well, sleep well and be self disciplined (switch off Bebo, MSN, YouTube, oh and the TV!)
