More snow and closures but please don't fall further behind. These are not holidays; they are days of learning and exam preparation missed, so don't waste them.
You need to start thinking about the Extended Response, so here is the help sheet to help you get started:
Just in case this cold spell and snow showers continue, here is some work to keep you up to date.
You could be working through the Free at Last Questions, so work through as many as you can.
If you can find past paper questions to do, then do as many as you can.
Here is a website worth spending time on.
S5 Int2 pupils should be working through the Germany unit and doing as many past paper questions as possible.
Focus and stay busy!

Good Morning! (and if some of you missed the morning #fail)
You should be working through and completing the questions on the collapse of the Weimar Republic and the rise of the Nazis. (These questions on Chapter 10 can be found in a recent post). To help you understand proportional representation download this:
Download What_is_proportional_representation
Here is a summary of views on the reasons for the collapse of the Weimar Republic:
Download Chap_6_summary_alan_white
Here is the essay title and plan you will do on the Collapse of the Weimar Republic/Rise of the Nazis (to be done immediately after the holidays):
Download Weimar_germany_higher_essay
Chapter 11 Questions will appear on here soon.
Over the holidays, you need to get started on your Extended Essay. Here is the introduction to it and advice on how to go about the research:

Download The-extended-essay-p2-v2
Please don't let all this disruption slow us down any more. We are nearly two weeks behind where we should be. After the holidays, it gets intense!
Now get off Facebook and get on with it! ( High quality nagging here so don't waste it.)

Here is the simple powerpoint we looked at today. It is a very simple intro to the topic but some found it helpful.

Hello everyone. Hope you've finished Chapter 9 questions and making a start on the essay which will be done on Monday, weather permitting. I think you should work on the essay as much as you can, helping each other where possible.
However, you will need to get on with the Chapter 10 questions on Friday. In case the school is still closed or you can't get in here is the Chapter 10 questions for you to get with. Please pass on the message that ALL pupils should be visiting the website to keep up to date with work.

Hello again,
Glad to see so many of you using the site today. I got a e-mail tonight asking about the essay on Monday. The question was -"just wondering about the essay we're supposed to be doing on monday, would you just suggest using the things you posted on the website, the marking scheme and our notes and things to get the essay planned? i'm just not feeling 100% confident with this section yet".
Here's my answer which I thought might be of use to others:
Just give it your best shot and let's get through this disruptive spell as best we can.

Here are some resources to help you with the Unification part:
Download Bismarck The Great Debate
Download German Unification 1850
Download Reasons for Unification
A previous essay plan (NOT the one you will be doing):
And finally a powerpoint which covers both the Nationalism section and the Unification section. (Author unknown)
Download TheriseofGermannationalism[1]
This was all I could find at home. There may be more in this site and check out the 'My deli.cio.us' for more.
Int2 pupils - please get ready to do some past papers question on Nationalism.
Bye for now!

Hi! Sorry I missed you last week and now the snow is preventing us from meeting up. What I can do here is to remind you of a few things I went over just before the prelims started.
Good luck.

Hi! Sorry I missed you last week and now the snow is causing a bit of havoc. So, to keep you on track I strongly suggest you complete the following:
By now you should have completed or be close to completing the chapter on Bismarck and the unification of Germany. The booklet of questions you have includes much extra text and advice on the essay dealing with this section. I hope you enjoyed it and now see what I meant about 'a story' with characters and events. This makes for a good essay subject.
Next Monday (6th December), you will complete this essay title under exam conditions:
How far was Bismarck’s success in unifying Germany between 1862 and 1871 due mainly to mistakes made by others?
Good news is, this was the 2010 essay and there is a comprehensive marking scheme to help you here.
I'm now going to try to find other material that might help you with this essay but as I'm stuck at home, I may not have that much. Keep popping back to check.
Tomorrow I will put the next chapter questions on here, so come back then so you can crack on with the next section.
Pass on this site address to other pupils not used to using this site, and please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
Self - discipline is called for just now, so rise to the challenge!
Mr Davidson
